My research interests surround how the natural world interacts with the atmosphere. To do this I combine a suite of gas flux measurement methodologies (eddy covariance, chamber methods, gradient method) and biogeochemical modeling techniques. My primary interests are in how various ecosystems take up and release carbon based compounds (primarily CO2 and CH4). We seek to address major uncertainties in how these compounds are transformed and transported through nature and how climate change will alter ecosystem functioning in both the short and long term.
