Expertise
I'm an ecologist who straddles different fields, from watershed science to fisheries science, ecosystem ecology to ecological economics...and I like to collaborate with physicists.
Expertise: riverine fish and estuarine ecology, fisheries ecology, watershed ecology, systems ecology, ecological economics, fisheries and ecosystem science, coupled human-natural systems, biogeochemistry, fisheries ecology, ecosystem ecology, biogeochemical tracers, modeling
Current projects:
- Project Breathless
- Project Hypoxolith
- Losing Track of Time
- Blueback Herring Life Histories
- Dams in the Hudson
A few past projects:
- Eels in Hudson River tributaries
- Grand Canyon near-shore ecology with focus on Humpback Chub
- Stone-Age vs. modern Baltic Sea cod
- Measuring and modeling the process of urbanization in watersheds
My research interests are fairly broad. Geographically, I've focused mostly in the Hudson River watershed and Baltic Sea, but also have had the great fortune to work in the Grand Canyon and engage in Amazonian studies, to name a couple of other places.
