Abstract

Freshwater

X. spilopterus sp. nov. is described and illustrated from Nyika Bay, Nkumbula I. It is distinguished from other species of the genus by the presence of 12 dorsal spines compared to 13-15 and by a large black blotch on the posterior part of the dorsal fin.
